Englewood Complete Streets Toolbox Document Complete

Thanks to all who provided feedback on complete streets in Englewood. The toolbox document is now ready for use in the Downtown and Medical Center Districts. This document will serve as a working toolbox for both the Public Works and Community Development Departments as the City moves forward with complete street changes within the Downtown and Medical Center Districts in coming years as capital funding is available. This project was funded through a sub-grant of the Communities Putting Prevention to Work Initiative, a $10.5 million grant awarded to Tri- County Health Department from the Centers for Disease Control Prevention. The initial application of this document is focused on the Englewood Downtown and Medical Center Districts. In the future, this toolbox may be applicable to other locations in the city and could be considered for other street improvement projects throughout the City. This document will go before city council in the upcoming months. Please check the city’s website for further details on the city council process.

Meeting with Malley Senior Center

The Englewood Complete Streets project team had a chance to meet with the board from the Malley Senior Center yesterday afternoon. Issues on Broadway and Old Hampden were marked on maps by the group, and potential improvements were identified. The group also shared opinions on a “Kit of Parts” of complete streets improvements using keypad polling. The feedback gathered will help shape the direction of the Englewood Complete Streets project and will help identify locations for improvements.

Results from this meeting and other project feedback will be summarized and shared on on the project website later this summer.

Englewood Complete Streets at Eats and Beats

The Englewood Complete Steet Team made the scene Saturday at the Eats and Beats Festival. The festival was well attended and had beautiful weather. The Team collected local feedback from event attendees. Over 200 flyers about the Complete Streets project were distributed to members of the Englewood community.

Englewood Complete Streets at the Summer Concert Series

The Complete Streets project team attended Englewood’s Thursday Night Summer Concert Series last night. They connected with local concert-goers in the CityCenter amphitheatre and distributed over 100 project flyers before the start of the show. The flyers gave information about complete streets and directed concert attendees to the Englewood Complete Streets website and Facebook page.

Project Team Hits the Streets

The project team participated in several outreach events along Old Hampden and Broadway in Englewood yesterday. The events provided an opportunity to share information about the Englewood Complete Streets project. The goal of this outreach is to connect people to the project via the project webpage and Facebook. In the early morning the project team talked with people at the Old Hampden/Pearl and Old Hampden/Clarkson intersections. The project team also went “door to door” and visited with businesses along Broadway and Old Hampden in the study area. The project team will be reaching out at other events in the next month.

The Englewood Complete Streets project team will be promoting the project in the study area along the Old Hampden corridor and the Broadway corridor in Englewood throughout the morning on Thursday, June 16.

Tour of Complete Streets in Longmont

Some of the Englewood planning and traffic engineering staff recently had a chance to tour some of the complete streets improvements in Longmont. Some interesting ideas were gathered about complete streets improvements that may work in Englewood.

Our goal is to build awareness and excitement about Englewood Complete Streets and establish a network of people to provide feedback throughout the project. Please like us on facebook and share with your friends.

We will be giving away an iPod or a gift card for a local business in a random drawing among all people who have liked us on facebook. The winner will be contacted via email on July 15.
