The Englewood Complete Streets project was identified as a critical next step project by Britina Design Consultants as part of the Ready, Set, Action! An Urban Design Action Plan for the Englewood Downtown and Medical Districts design charrette planning process conducted for the Englewood Downtown and Medical Districts in 2009. The Complete Streets project differs from the original design charrette in its specific focus on a more narrow subset of streetscape improvements that effect the nature and operation of the street network, including both motorized and pedestrian-oriented traffic movements. These traffic movements are being carefully studied in greater detail by Fehr and Peers transportation consultants. The consultants findings will form the basis of a recommended policy document that will be adopted by the Englewood City Council, and will serve as a working toolbox for both the Public Works and Community Development Departments as the City moves forward with traffic operational changes to the Broadway and Old Hampden Avenue corridors in coming years.
